It's Pi Day! It is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) around the world. Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, which is approximately 3.14159. Pi Day is an annual opportunity for math enthusiasts to recite the infinite digits of Pi. It is also Albert Einstein's birthday! It is commonly acknowledged that he was a German-born theoretical physicist and one of the most influential scientists of all time.

AL-STEM in the Gym and STEM in the Gym Practical Inclusion Strategies (Mobile, AL) Even though this is an event for PE teachers, classroom teachers, administrators, STEM teachers, and media specialists are invited to come learn how STEM can be incorporated into the PE curriculum. This would be a great time for all educators to talk and play, while planning how to build a STEM culture throughout the school community. AL-STEM in the Gym combines physical activity with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) learning. It is designed to provide a fun and engaging way to learn about these important subjects while also promoting health and fitness. AL-STEM in the Gym incorporates various hands-on activities, challenges, and experiments that encourage the learner to explore and apply STEM concepts in a gym or physical activity setting. In addition to promoting STEM learning and physical activity, AL-STEM in the Gym also helps the learner develop valuable skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Overall, AL-STEM in the Gym is a unique and innovative approach to promoting both physical and intellectual development in the learner. It provides a fun and interactive way to learn about important STEM concepts while also staying active and healthy. Another event that is sure to be beneficial to all educators will also be introduced. It is the "STEM in the Gym Practical Inclusion Strategies". This event is being hosted by ALSDE Health Education, Physical Education, and Adapted Physical Education specialist, Jonathan Thompson, along with April Chamberlin, District Technology Integration Specialist for Trussville City Schools. Their session will open the door to implementing STEM activities for exceptional students, so they can have the opportunity to experience of engaging in the world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics while having fun. American Heart Month
Every year, Black History Month, sometimes referred to as African American History Month, honors the accomplishments of African Americans and their important place in American history. Originally known as "Negro History Week," every American president has declared it a national holiday since 1976. Black history is also celebrated in Canada and the United Kingdom, among other nations. The theme of Black History Month 2024, "African Americans and the Arts," focuses on the significant impact that African Americans have had on a variety of artistic fields, including "visual and performing arts, literature, fashion, folklore, language, film, music, architecture, culinary and other forms of cultural expression."

IT IS FLU SEASON!!! ADPH suggests the following to decrease the spread of flu and other respiratory viruses: * Always cover your mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. Cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow, if you do not have a tissue available. * Dispose of used facial tissues that contain nasal secretions. * Avoiding touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. * Stay home until fever free for 24 hours. * Practice proper hand washing hygiene. Please continue routine cleaning and disinfection processes for frequently touched surfaces or common areas with appropriate cleaner. Influenza viruses are generally susceptible to standard cleaning products, including those that contain detergent, chlorine, hydrogen peroxide, and alcohols.
